BOISE, Idaho (May 2026) — In a landmark move for the program, the Boise State Men's Rugby team has officially announced its transition to the High Peaks Conference , departing the Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference (NCRC) ahead of the upcoming season.
This strategic shift marks the end of a two-decade era for the Broncos, who have been steadfast members of the NCRC since the club was reestablished in 2006. Moving forward, Boise State will compete in the Division 2 portion of their new conference, setting their sights on higher levels of competition and a deeper postseason run.
A Strategic Move for a National Title
The decision to change conferences was driven by the team's evolving ambitions and the logistical advantages the High Peaks Conference provides. The new alignment offers the Broncos significantly more flexibility when scheduling regular-season opponents, a crucial factor in building a robust resume for postseason play. Ultimately, the move is designed to support the program's ultimate goal: bringing a National Championship title home to Boise.
"We are incredibly excited to make this switch to the High Peaks Conference," said Head Coach Kyle Curry. "This move aligns perfectly with our postseason goals. It gives us the competitive environment and the scheduling flexibility we need to build a championship-caliber season. We have great respect for our time in the NCRC, but this is the right step forward for our program as we pursue a National Championship."
The New Competition
Joining the Division 2 bracket of the High Peaks Conference introduces Boise State to a fresh slate of regional rivals. The Broncos are gearing up to test their mettle against a highly competitive lineup of schools.
Fans can look forward to hard-hitting matchups against new conference foes, including:
Colorado Mesa University
Montana State University
Weber State University
And several other top-tier regional programs.
As the Broncos prepare for their inaugural season in the High Peaks Conference, the energy surrounding the club is at an all-time high. With a clear vision, a new competitive landscape, and a hunger for a national title, Boise State Men's Rugby is ready to make a massive impact in their new home.
