With another hard-fought season in the books, Boise State Men’s Rugby is proud to announce its major award winners for the 2025–2026 campaign. These five individuals set the standard for the program this year, demonstrating exceptional skill, leadership, and dedication to the Blue and Orange both on and off the pitch.
Here are this year's honorees:
Most Valuable Player (MVP): James Hodges
Position: Openside Flanker
Hometown: Southern California
Class: Senior (Graduated May 2026)
James Hodges caps off a stellar collegiate career by taking home the team's Most Valuable Player honor for the 2025–2026 season. As the starting openside flanker, Hodges was pivotal to the Broncos' success this year. A dominant force at the breakdown and a phenomenal tackler, he consistently disrupted opposition offenses while running the ball at a blistering pace that made him a force to be reckoned with.
The recipient of the coveted Bronco Award last season, Hodges has spent his time in Boise perfectly embodying what it means to be a Boise State rugby player on and off the field. The program congratulates James on his graduation this May and thanks him for his immense contributions to the club.
Forward of the Year: Parker Mallot
Position: Hooker
Hometown: Northern California
Class: Senior (Graduated May 2026)
Team captain and the undisputed heartbeat of the pack, Parker Mallot has been named Forward of the Year. Playing at hooker, Mallot brought elite consistency to every single match of the 2025–2026 campaign. He anchored the Broncos' set pieces, leading the scrums and lineouts with precision, while delivering a high-work-rate performance at the breakdown and in the defensive line.
As a graduate this May, Mallot leaves a legacy of leadership that helped shape the standard for future Boise State forwards.
Back of the Year: Lucas Kirk
Position: Inside Center
Hometown: Northern California
Class: Freshman
Freshman inside center Lucas Kirk takes home Back of the Year honors after an explosive debut season in 15s. Kirk proved to be one of the most dangerous players in the competition with the ball in his hands, capable of breaking open a defense and scoring a try at any given moment.
Beyond his own scoring prowess, Kirk’s vision and running lines consistently created space and opportunities for others, making him a cornerstone of the Broncos' backline strategy moving forward.
Rookie of the Year: Nathan Mohs
Position: Flyhalf
Hometown: Montana
Class: Freshman
Stepping into the crucial flyhalf role as a freshman is no easy task, but Nathan Mohs handled the pressure flawlessly to earn Rookie of the Year. Hailing from Montana, Mohs demonstrated an elite tactical understanding of the game, consistently reading the field and attacking open space.
As a phenomenal distributor, he commanded the Boise State offense with maturity, routinely putting his teammates into prime positions to break the line and find the try zone.
The Bronco Award: Ryan Hermans
Position: Back Row / Hard Runner
Hometown: Meridian, Idaho
Class: Junior
The Bronco Award is presented annually to the player who best exemplifies the culture, identity, and values that Boise State Rugby strives for every day. This year, the honor goes to local standout Ryan Hermans.
The Meridian native is best known across the squad for his relentless work ethic and infectious positive attitude on the pitch. Whether carrying the ball hard into contact or putting in the unglamorous work in the dark spaces, Hermans truly personified the blue-collar identity of the program this season as he heads into his senior year.
Congratulations to all of our 2025–2026 award winners!
